In an age where most of humanity lives like items stacked one upon another in an aisle at the grocery store – when you can literally reach out the bathroom window and touch your neighbor’s bedroom window in the building next store – the sad truth is we almost never speak to our neighbors, much less get to know who they are as individuals. With that idea in mind, we here at Black Chalk Magazine partnered up with fashion designer Ada Zanditon to create our own answer to the question “who are these people that we’re living around?”

We were inspired by the freedom and creativity of West Hollywood, the heart of LA’s LGBTQ community, where everyone is ‘family’ and that sense of family is honestly one of the best parts of humanity. So here is our editorial of ‘Meet The Neighbors – The West Hollywood’ where we explore what it means to ‘family’ in the modern sense – guided by the visual narrative of West Hollywood – where on any given day you can see a fashionable couple on their way to fetish party, a dapper lad out walking his dog in full leather chaps and harness, or my personal favorite of ‘the friendly neighborhood’ drag queen avon lady who always seems to know when you just got paid… Enjoy!
